Both Seasonic and Enermax work the best at 50 percent load, with Hiper falling a few percent short of everybody.

As we move to 75 percent load Enermax stays consistently in the 83 percent range, with Cooler Master joining it. The rest of the pack mulls around 80 percent mark, except for the Hiper which is again a few percent lower than the rest.

700W to 850W PSU Group Test Efficiency & PFC Comparison
At 100 percent load only Enermax and Cooler Master remain above 80 percent efficiency with Tagan and Seasonic falling just below 80 percent. Again, the Hiper dropped behind the pack, giving an efficiency of just above 75 percent, while the heat problems with the Etasis caused it to drop below 75 percent.

Final Thoughts

There is no absolute conclusion because every PSU caters for a slightly different need, retailing for a different price and market, so each has was weighed up on its own merits. We've still demonstrated that some are better than others and simply buying into wattage or even branding isn't necessarily the best policy.

Finally, many thanks to CoolerGiant in the UK for allowing bit-tech the use of its facilities for this group test.
